Making a career choice is one of the most important decisions you will ever make, and you may need to make many more in future. Contained on this small but perfectly formed web page are all the links you need to gather information to make your choices in future.

This page is set out in the logical order you will need to follow to make a decision or find out what your next steps are. Remember if at any time you feel you need to help we have a team of dedicated advisers all fully qualified in career guidance to help you on your way.

STEP ONE

Who are you and what are you looking for?

This is one of the most difficult questions to answer, and yet the most important. Before you can pick a course or choose a job, you need to know where you are heading. There is no point in picking a course if:

  • There are no employment opportunities
  • The course is not recognised by employers

Tip: Pick the career first, and then find the qualification they ask for. Step two looks are how to determine what qualifications you need, but first let’s look at what you need to do to choose the Career.

Try this web site, it is a career matching programme that matches your skills, and interests to a database of possible job ideas. You can also use this site to investigate your exiting ideas.

Note: are you 19 yrs and over? If so click here for a skills account (https://skillsaccounts.direct.gov.uk/). A Skills account can calculate how much you can save on course fees and has a career matching programme.
