Help with Costs

If you’re aged between 16 and 18 at the start of your course, you won’t have to pay any course fees and your parents will be able to continue to claim any benefits they received while you were at school.

The College may also be able to provide financial help for travel costs or essential course requirements. Plus, you’ll be given the opportunity to join the Student Union which will entitle you to lots of benefits and discounts! Application forms for help towards essential course requirements are available to download by clicking here, alternatively you can contact Student Services on 01909 504500.

You may also be able to get an Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA) if you decide to stay on in Further Education.

The EMA is a weekly payment of up to £30 paid directly to you if you stay on in further education after you leave school. There are also bonuses of £100 if you remain on your course and make good progress with your learning.

Your entitlement to receive an EMA and the amount you receive will depend on an assessment of your household income.

For more information, visit the DFES website.
