The living books were volunteers who had their own story about mental health, from suffers of mental illness to family carers or health professionals involved in their recovery. This was a unique and exciting opportunity for the learners to gain a realistic insight into mental health. Reading a book you don’t usually get the chance to ask questions, jump between chapters or go over the same part of the story in more detail. Borrowing a Living Book allowed the learners to interact with the book and ask questions, which is what made the day so inspiring.

If you are looking for a job with training, Apprenticeships may be the best option for you. Apprenticeships and Advanced Apprenticeships offer you the opportunity to ‘Earn while you Learn’.
To become an apprentice you will need to secure yourself a job with a company in the same line of work that you want to train in, ie If you are working for a plumber you would take a plumbing apprenticeship and likewise if you worked as a junior accountant/book keeper you would take an accountancy apprenticeship.
You will need to be employed for a minimum of 30 hours a week and your employer should pay you, at least, the minimum apprenticeship wage of £2.65 per hour and must allow you to have additional training one day a week, at College or in the work place. You’ll learn skills whilst at work with your employer and whilst at College.
