A coach party of staff and students from North Notts College plumbing department visited the NEC in Birmingham on the 19th of October 2011 to view the ‘National Installer Live Exhibition’. The students enjoyed the live demonstration showcases for the effective installation of solar, wind, heat pumps and other renewable technologies that are being widely adopted in the Industry today.
Tony Billam. Plumbing lecturer said; “It was a hugely educational experience for both staff and students being able to see all the new up to date technologies at work. With the government ‘Green Deal’ being introduced in Autumn 2012 there was a lot of information for the students on renewable energy and ways of saving energy.”

Dave Massey, a tutor in plumbing at North Notts College, took a group of level 1 students to the Harrogate Renewables Roadshow in September. Dave wanted the new plumbing students to see the latest plumbing technology available in today’s industry. The students watched expert demonstrations on solar PV and thermal technologies, ground source heating systems, under floor heating and looked at new plumbing technologies in domestic environments. Dave commented “The show was an excellent introduction for the new students into plumbing and the renewable revolution that is taking place in England today. Staff and students alike found it a very enjoyable and educational day”.
