On 27th July 2012 after seven years of hard work London plays host to the 30th Olympic Summer Games.
As the excitment continues to mount for this event a number of local council, organisations, sports clubs and community groups have joined together to deliver an ambitious programme of sporting events and activities under the title ‘Bassetlaw Games’. Read more

The third of North Notts College Themed Events took place in December and more than 500 students from throughout the College attending events held in Fluid Power Centre, the Learning Resource Centre and the Getaway.
Shaun Attwood delivered his presentation ‘Hard Time’ to students – discussing the consequences of drugs and crime recalling his own experiences in one of America’s toughest jails after using his millionaire lifestyle to fund illegal drugs activities.
Shaun documented the dreadful conditions in the jail and turned the international media spotlight on the jail when he started his blog Jon’s Jail Journal.
Shaun invited Performing Arts students Tom Hays Owens and Anna Stancil to read sections from his book ‘Hard Time’. He was also interviewed by the Worksop Guardian and BBC Radio Sheffield – posing for photographs with Catering students Abigail Batty and Ben Hunt.
Unfortunately due to illness, Shaun had to cancel his second day of presentations and was rescheduled for January to coincide with the Health themed event.

Congratulations to the Plumbing Apprentices who completed their Level 2 apprenticeship course during the current academic year 2011-12 and three female students that have completed their Level 1 and progressed to Level 2 in Access to Building Services. Chris commented: “It is a pleasure to see so many students achieving their qualifications and progression. It shows a great deal of commitment not only from the students but the team at Shireoaks Triangle and reinforces our position of being one of the top achieving Colleges in the county.”

A group of Supervisors and Managers from the National Offender Management Service (NOMS) attended their graduation ceremony at the Salverton Park Hotel on 24th October after completing their Management Development Programme, delivered as joint project between North Notts College and DHL.
The Employer Engagement and Management teams at North Notts College worked with NOMS Central HR and DHL Learning and Development to design the programme with an imbedded Level 5 Chartered Management Institute Certificate as a pilot for other DHL divisions. The delegates were selected from NOMS sites across the UK for a series of workshops, lectures, and placements hosted either at the National Fluid Power Centre or in DHL sites in Daventry. Read more
