ADULT LEARNING WORKS AT NORTH NOTTS COLLEGE

It’s not just teenagers who go to College. Over three quarters of our students are over the age of 19, with many progressing onto University, Higher Education or into employment.

Are you looking for a new direction or career?
Interested in further or higher education?
Looking to improve your study skills and boost your self-confidence?
Then our access courses could be for you.

Our Access courses provide adults with a route to Higher Education and courses for those returning to education, which enable you to fit your learning around your family commitments.

Access to Higher Education

Courses are students over 18 interested in progressing to a range of University courses including teacher training, social work and subject based degrees.

  • Gives learners the confidence and skills to succeed in Higher Education
  • Accepted by Universities as equivalent to A Levels – passport to Higher Education and a new career.
  • One year full time or part time over two years
  • No qualifications necessary
  • Core modules of Study Skills and IT
  • Option modules in English, Maths, History, Sociology, Psychology, IT and Business Studies.

Access to Nursing

As a mature student you can follow the Access to Higher Education Nursing and Social Care programme. This is targeted at students with few or no academic qualifications who wish to apply for entry to higher education courses in nursing, midwifery, social work or other health-related degrees. This ‘kite marked’ programme of study is recognised by the Nursing and Midwifery Admissions Service (NMAS). This course fulfils the academic entry requirements specified by the English National Board (ENB) for entry into nurse training.
