WORRIED ABOUT THE COST OF COLLEGE?
YOU MAY NOT HAVE TO PAY FEES?

Students who are aged 16 to18 at the start of their course don’t have to pay fees. Also students who receive, or are dependent on someone who receives any of the following benefits won’t have to pay their tuition fees.

  • Council Tax Benefit (excluding 25% single person's discount)
  • Housing Benefit
  • Income Support
  • Job Seekers Allowance (income based)
  • Asylum Seeker in receipt of an income based state benefit
  • Working Tax Credit (where family household income is less than £15,050)

Evidence of all of the above is required at enrolment.

If you are 19 and over with no previous qualifications, you may be entitled to have your tuition fees paid for. For further details contact Student Services or phone 01909 504500 for more information.

EMA (EDUCATION MAINTENANCE ALLOWANCE)
EMA is a weekly payment worth up to £30 for eligible students who are in Year 11 and planning to continue in further education from September 05. The weekly payments are intended to help cover the day-to-day costs that you have to meet when you stay on at school or college, such as travel costs, books and equipment for your course.

There are also bonuses of £100 if you remain on your course and make good progress with your learning.

Payments will be made direct into your bank account, so if you haven’t got one already you will need to open one before applying for an EMA.

For more information contact Student Services on 01909 504500, or your Connexions Advisor.
