The Student Union Executive organise events and have a ‘voice’ in college decisions and planning. They are also someone you can turn to for advice and support. The NNCSU help to make a difference at NNC. You can too by applying to be a: • Member of the Student Union Executive • Programme Area Representative • College Governor • Volunteering or participating in charitable events. As a College student you are entitled to a student card, available from your Personal Tutor, which entitles you to discounts in some local shops. NUS Extra cards can be purchased from the Student Services and these give you more discounts, especially online. Speak to someone in the Student Services, a member of the Student Union or visit the NUS website for more details.
Student Union Executive Elections are held yearly at the end of Summer Term. Anyone can apply to be: President, Vice President, Treasurer, Welfare Officer, Entertainment Officer and much more. Our helpful and friendly Mentors can advise and help you in this process and let you know what you will be expected to do as a member of the Exec. Programme Area Representatives (PAR) We value highly the views of our students, without which we could not provide the quality of teaching and learning you deserve. As a learner of North Notts College you can help make a real difference. We want to know what you think about your course and the College in general. PARs gather feedback from learners on the quality of course provision (so if something needs improving the College can take steps to change it) and attend 2 or 3 discussion groups throughout the year with your classmates to share your opinions about College. In total this means that you will volunteer about 4 hours of your time over 9 months. The benefits to you are respect and influence to make a difference in people’s lives, a great experience and high quality training that will set you up for working life, specialist skills to add to your CV and application form when applying for jobs, training and a special College ID badge!
Learner Course Review This involves ALL full time learners and takes place twice a year in October and February. They normally take place during the tutorial slot and will be run by your Programme Area Manager, Curriculum Director or colleagues from the Quality Unit. This is your opportunity to let us know how your course is going, what we could do better and any suggestions you may have to improve things.
