Course Overview

The VTCT Level 3 Award in Cutting Women's Hair (QCF) is a qualification that has been specifically designed to develop your practical skills to an advanced level through a variety of techniques in the creative art of cutting women's hair.

Underpinning this qualification you will develop a sound knowledge of monitoring health and safety whilst working in the hairdressing industry. You will also develop a knowledge and understanding of the practical skills learned throughout this qualification.

The purpose of this qualification is to develop your practical skills to an advanced level of occupational ability to enable you to perform your own salon services as well as support others.

Entry Requirements

Level 2 hairdressing or equivalent and relevant industry experience.

All applicants undertake initial diagnostic tests, practical assessments and a personal interview before being accepted on the course.

Duration

12 Weeks

Course Contents

Candidates must complete the mandatory units to achieve the qualification.

Mandatory Unit

  • Cut women's hair to create a variety of looks
  • Monitor and maintain health and safety practice in the salon

Assessment

Candidates will be assessed by a practical demonstration/assignment.

Progression Route

Upon successful completion of the course, candidates will have the opportunity to progress to further level 3 vocational qualifications in hairdressing. The qualification may also lead directly into employment.

3rd Step

INVITED FOR AN INTERVIEW

You will be invited to attend College for a pre-course interview, which will include a guided tour of College and its grounds, assessment tests in literacy, numeracy and learning styles and an interview with a course tutor from your chosen subject area.

4th Step

CONFIRMATION

Subject to a successful pre-course interview you will be offered a place on a course suitable for your abilities in the area of your choice. Sometimes these are subject to conditions such as exam grades.
Further information relating to enrolment, induction and pre-course meeting, will be posted out to you before the start of your course.
