The adult course prepares you to become Early Years Educators, enabling you to work with children from birth to 5 years and gain knowledge of children aged 5 to 7 years.
Upon achievement of this qualification it is intended that you will be able to enter the workforce as Early Years Educators.
You will study a range of topics around three themes:
- Theme 1: Health and well-being
- Theme 2: Legislation, frameworks and professional practice
- Theme 3: Play, development and learning for school readiness
- 23 mandatory units
- Guided learning of 486 hours
- Total qualification time of 610 hours
You’ll learn from industry-experienced and well-qualified tutors who have spent many years in the Childcare and Education sector, and have specialist qualifications and knowledge to bring to their teaching.
You can participate in regular work placements to boost your skills, take part in cross-cross college events, and hear from a range of guest speakers from children’s services, day nurseries, primary schools, special schools and children’s centres
You’ll be able to benefit from our links with Childcare and Education employers including nurseries, primary schools, day care, children’s centres, childminders, and special schools.
- To become an Early Years Educator, you must have a GCSE at grade 4 in English and Maths or Functional Skills at level 2.
- A clear Disclosure and Barring (DBS) certificate

- Foundation Degree in Early Childhood Studies
- 16-18 year olds do not need to pay course fees
