Our plumbing courses will provide you with the skills needed for work in the domestic and industrial sectors. You will develop a combination of practical skills and theory-based knowledge, where you will learn how to:

  • Understand bending and jointing techniques

  • Fit sinks and taps.

Level 1 

 

This qualification is for those wanting to enter the plumbing industry. It gives you the opportunity to pick up some core skills and knowledge which gives you the opportunity to progress onto either of our Level 2 and 3 Plumbing or Electrical Installation qualifications.

 

 

Level 2

 

This qualification is for you if you are a 16-19 year old learner who wishes to work towards becoming a plumber in the building services industry. It has been designed to deliver a high level of occupational skills and provide a platform from which to progress through further learning through an apprenticeship programme or into employment. This vocational route at level 2 is a vital step towards becoming a competent plumber.

What does the qualification cover?

The qualification will help you gain an understanding of the skills required within the plumbing sector. You will cover compulsory aspects such as:

 

  • Hot Water

  • Cold Water

  • Sanitation

  • Central Heating

 

Level 2 and 3 – Apprentice Route

City & Guilds domestic heating and plumbing courses cover the essential knowledge and skills needed for a successful career in domestic plumbing and heating. Areas of study include:

  •       Domestic hot and cold water systems

  • Central heating systems

  • Sanitation systems

  • Environmental technologies

  • Gas safety

The NVQ Level 2 plumbing and heating qualification is designed for anyone who wants to become a plumber or domestic heating engineer. It provides all the basic domestic heating and plumbing training you need to start working in the industry.

The NVQ Level 3 plumbing and heating qualification is aimed at anyone who has already completed the Level 2 qualification, or who already has some relevant experience and knowledge. If you choose gas-related units at Level 3, you will achieve the Gas Safe licence to practise on successful completion of the course.

Evening Course Adults Thursday evenings. 

Construction skills qualifications provide the ideal introduction to the construction industry and cover essential skills in plumbing.

For individuals of any age wanting an introduction to the variety of construction trades, to gain skills in those areas, and perhaps to decide which trade is the right one to pursue a career in. No previous knowledge or experience is required.

 

  • You will learn in state-of-the-art facilities using industry-standard equipment

  • We work in partnership with our local Employer Academy.  

  • You will attend industry competitions such as Skill Build, World Skills Competitions and the opportunity to take part in

  • Inter-college Challenges

  • You will be encouraged to take part in enrichment activities to support learning

  • Carry out meaningful voluntary work that will help your CV within the local area

  • Hear from a range of guest speakers from Electrical companies and wholesalers
