Higher Education Graduation 2019 – Update

8 November 2019

Following our decision to cancel our Higher Education Graduation ceremonies today (Friday 8th November), we would like to send our sincere apologies to our graduates and their guests.

With more than 25 live flood warnings in Rotherham this morning, we had to take the difficult decision to cancel the event due to safety concerns and accessibility issues. As we were continuously checking the situation in the local and surrounding areas, we left our decision until as late as possible to give us the best chance of going ahead.

These conditions have also caused us to close all of the College campuses within the Group to students (including University Centre Rotherham, Rotherham College – Town Centre Campus and Dinnington Campus, North Notts College and Dearne Valley College).

We are planning to rearrange our Higher Education Graduation ceremonies for Spring 2020 to allow our graduates to celebrate with their friends, family and loved ones. A date has not yet been decided, but as soon as this has been confirmed we will be in touch with those who were supposed to graduate on Friday 8th November 2019 via email and letter and details will be posted on our websites and social media.

Graduates will be offered the chance to carry across their gown hire and photography as previously booked or, if they discover they cannot attend when the new date is released, we will provide them with instructions to claim a full refund.

If graduates decide they no longer wish to attend Graduation in Spring next year, please contact Graduation Attire on info@graduationattire.co.uk to arrange a full refund.

Any further enquiries can be sent to the Higher Education Team at University Centre Rotherham at ucr@rotherham.ac.uk or on 01709 722806.
