This course is designed for those who assess vocational skills, knowledge, and understanding in the workplace or a training environment.
The qualification will help you develop the knowledge and skills required to plan, prepare for, and carry out assessments of vocational skills and knowledge. By completing a portfolio of evidence, which can include observations and written assignments, you will have the opportunity to improve your practice and achieve a recognised professional qualification
Unit 301: Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment – This unit focuses on the fundamental principles and requirements of assessment in learning and development. It covers topics such as the functions of different types of assessment (initial, formative, summative), key concepts like validity and reliability, and the responsibilities of an assessor.
Unit 302: Assess Occupational Competence in the Work Environment – This unit is for those assessing vocational competence within a work environment. It covers preparing for assessments, communicating with learners, making assessment decisions, and providing feedback.
Unit 303: Assess Vocational Skills, Knowledge and Understanding – This unit focuses on assessing vocational skills and knowledge in contexts other than the work environment, such as a classroom or simulated setting. It involves selecting assessment methods, preparing resources, and managing the assessment process.

Learners could progress onto the Level 4 Award in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice.
You could progress onto other teaching qualifications or learning and development qualifications, such as;

- Foundation Degree in Learning Support
- Certificate in Education
