Whilst you study with us you’ll learn key skills including communication with children and adults, safeguarding, health and safety, childhood illnesses, play and learning.
You’ll also take part in practical activities such as making story sacks, cooking and healthy eating for children, painting and displays. You will also learn how to change a nappy and wash a baby safely. You’ll have the chance to hear from industry experts in guest sessions and learn more about the variety of careers and settings available in childcare.
Outside of the classroom you’ll have the chance to manage fundraising events and take part in inter-college competitions to showcase your skills.

The childcare sector is ideal for those who are patient, caring and have a passion for helping children to develop, learn and reach their full potential.
A Houseparent looks after the welfare, safety and pastoral care of children in care or at boarding schools.
Maintain discipline, standards of behaviour and manners, do administration tasks like organise rotas, travel and weekend arrangements, write reports and attend meetings, give first aid and take pupils to medical appointments.**

Early Years Educators help babies and children to develop and learn in a safe and supporting setting.
