Your first few weeks at college

Week 1: Welcome – 2nd-4th September

Getting to know your College

This week at North Notts College, departments and the College will be running their own induction timetable so please see your tutor when you arrive regarding what you will be doing.

It will include presentations and a welcome from the Director of Campus, time with your tutor, workshops on FREDIE, the importance of wearing your lanyard and using navigate.

You will also get a tour of the campus, time to get to know your peers as well as additional sessions including curriculum induction, power skills information, safeguarding and wellbeing talks and building positive relationships with others.

Welcome to College and we hope you have a good first week.


Week 2: September Sign Up – 7th-11th September

Learners can sign up to a club or activity with sign up fairs at each campus and during each lunchtime in reception areas.


Monday 7th September

Morning: Drop in sessions in the Careers Lounge (near reception).
Lunch time: Elsa our therapy dog will be visiting!
Afternoon: TBC


Tuesday 8th September

Stalls will be set up in the Bistro from 9.30am until 3pm where you can take a look at the clubs and activities available to North Notts College students.

Stalls will include; North Notts Bid, North Notts Radio, Student Union, Momentous Football Academy, Oasis Community Centre, In Sam’s Name, Navy, British Transport Police, plus lots more!


Wednesday 9th September

Morning: Emergency Services session.
Lunch time: Speak to staff about what clubs are on offer to North Notts College students.
Afternoon: Wellbeing sessions and table tennis.


Thursday 10th September

Morning: Drop in ‘Tea and Talk’ session.
Lunch time:Speak to staff about what clubs are on offer to North Notts College students.


Friday 11th September

Morning: Table tennis.
Lunch time: Suicide prevention information will be available.
Afternoon: Table tennis.

Week 3: Let us know what you think – 14th-18th September

Let us know what you think

Let us know what you think week will include surveys and discussions with learners about how it’s going.

Parents information evenings will also happen this week at each campus.

Week 4: Swap Don’t Drop – 21st-25th September

Swap Don’t Drop

We want to make sure that you are happy with the course that you’re on.

Did you know that if you aren’t completely happy, you can swap to a different course? We can support you in finding the right course for you.

Week 5: Careers Week – 28th September-2nd October

Focus on careers and skills

There will be speakers and workshops happening thoughout the week, the schedule is to be confirmed. Please speak to your tutor if you are interested in taking part in a workshop or listening to a talk.

This week we focus on Higher Education and what’s available for our learners, it will include sessions and workshops, see the schedule below. Please speak to your tutor if you are interested in taking part in a workshop or listening to a talk.

Celebrating your time with us so far

This week we will celebrate the end of the first half term, this will include rewards for attendance and general awards for our learners, more information to follow.

Our enrichment activities provide you with the opportunity to try new things, develop new skills, and meet new people.
