This qualification is designed for individuals who use pesticides professionally. It ensures operators meet the legal requirement to receive adequate training in using pesticides safely. The assessment consists of two optional units: Unit 131 for operating granular pesticide applicators (PA4G) and Unit 132 for operating slug pellet applicators (PA4S).
You will study and be assessed on the following areas:
- Legislative and safety regulations relating to the application of granular pesticides or slug pellets.
- Assessing the environmental factors relating to the application site.
- Reading and interpreting product information.
- Preparing and calibrating the application equipment
- Operating the application equipment
- Carrying out post-operational procedures.
Practical, Industry-Relevant Learning
At Dearne Valley College, you will gain hands-on experience working on our 12-acre land to develop your knowledge and skills. You will be taught by experienced tutors with qualifications and relevant industry experience.
You will be required to read chemical manufacturer guides and undertake an online exam.
NPTC regulations do not allow candidates to have a reader for the exam.
