Lift, Tone, Learn: Beauty Students Explore Electrotherapy

11 November 2025

Curiosity sparked in the salon when Julie from Silhouette Dermalift led an electrotherapy workshop for Level 3 Beauty Therapy students.

Attendees gained practical experience with modern equipment, discovering how gentle electrical currents lift, tone, and firm the skin.

Founded in 1974, Silhouette Dermalift creates non-surgical face and body electrotherapy systems used by professionals in over 65 countries. Originally intended for therapeutic purposes, the technology has been refined for professional beauty treatments. Backed by more than 50 years of experience, professionals also have access to accredited training, servicing, and after‑sales support.

Step 1: Consultation

Beginning with client consultations, learners assessed skin type and condition before deciding on the most suitable treatment settings. Once analysis was complete, careful cleansing removed oils and makeup, which allowed the electrical currents to flow freely. Through this stage, participants discovered how proper preparation builds the foundation for safe, effective, and professional treatments.

Step 2: Applying Conductive Gel

Next, learners applied a thin layer of conductive gel to prepare the skin for treatment. Acting as a vital link between the probes and facial muscles, the gel helped microcurrents travel smoothly and safely across the skin. Through this process, students learned how product application supports precision and comfort during professional treatments.

Step 3: Delivering the Microcurrent

Guided by Julie, students used hand-held probes to deliver gentle electrical impulses to targeted facial muscles. Each movement aimed to encourage lifting, toning, and improved definition around the cheeks, jawline, and eyes. Observing visible firming and contouring effects helped learners understand how skilled technique and consistent rhythm create balanced, natural-looking results.

Step 4: Post-Treatment Care

Finishing the session, students removed any remaining gel and applied a soothing moisturiser to protect the skin. Julie emphasised how aftercare enhances long-term results and strengthens client trust. Reflecting on the complete process, learners recognised how precision and professionalism are vital to delivering treatments.
