For nearly half a century, the Guild of Bricklayers has served as a hallmark of excellence in the bricklaying industry. Since its inception in 1976, the Guild has organised annual regional competitions that attract bricklaying talent. Aspiring bricklayers from across the country battle it out, showcasing their skills under the scrutiny of industry experts.

Competitors were tasked with constructing intricate brickwork walls from a technical drawing, all within a tight timeframe. Under intense pressure, every move had to be precise, ensuring the structure was both aesthetically pleasing and structurally flawless. Judges meticulously examined each detail, from brick alignment to the final finish, making sure only the most skilled emerged victorious.

Curriculum Team Leader for Construction, Mick Cox, said:

“All four students showed incredible skill and dedication. Corey’s back-to-back win is a testament to his hard work, while Phoebe, Freddy, and Ellie all demonstrated the potential to be future stars in the bricklaying industry. We couldn’t be prouder.”

Corey now heads to Sunderland for the national final on 5th June, ready to compete against the nation’s best. With his unmatched skill and a track record of success, the national stage is the perfect setting for him to shine once again.

Stay tuned for updates as Corey takes on the best in the country and continues to put North Notts College on the map!
