T Level Students Experience University Life at Sheffield Hallam

19 March 2026

Recently, our T Level Design, Surveying and Planning Year 1 students enjoyed an exciting and insightful visit to Sheffield Hallam University, a potential next step for many as they progress in their education.

During the visit, students were warmly welcomed by Collette, Head of Built Environment, alongside Andy, Senior Built Environment Lecturer, and Ron, Senior Construction Lecturer. The group took part in a hands-on challenge where they designed and built student accommodation, with their work assessed on key factors such as income revenue, snow load and earthquake resilience.

The experience proved to be both engaging and rewarding. Staff at Sheffield Hallam praised our students for their excellent teamwork, professionalism and positive behaviour throughout the day, feedback we are incredibly proud to hear.

Opportunities like this are invaluable, allowing students to begin building meaningful connections with university staff while gaining a real insight into higher education. By continuing to strengthen our partnership with Sheffield Hallam through taster sessions and collaborative activities, we aim to make the transition to university feel more accessible and less daunting.

For many of our students, who may be the first in their family to consider university, experiences like this play a vital role in building confidence and raising aspirations for the future.
