Turn It Purple: Campus Raises Funds for Cancer Charity

6 February 2026

Across North Notts campus on Wednesday, staff and students joined forces for #TurnItPurple, raising an impressive £712.88 for Weston Park Cancer Charity.

Laughter, teamwork, and creativity filled the day, turning every activity into a celebration of community spirit. Every donation and act of participation made a real difference for people affected by cancer.

Weston Park Cancer Charity supports people affected by cancer from the moment of diagnosis, offering practical and emotional help to make life more manageable at every stage. Funds raised also contribute to pioneering research and clinical trials, helping improve treatments and outcomes worldwide. Every donation enables the charity to provide free therapies, advice, and services that make a real difference for patients and families.

Hippos on the move

Inflatable hippo costumes brought fun to lessons and offices as staff collected donations throughout the day. Playful entrances and quick photo opportunities encouraged participation and turned everyday moments into meaningful contributions.

Baking it purple

Homemade cakes, biscuits, and cupcakes drew queues over lunchtime as students and staff enjoyed sweet treats. Every purchase added to the fundraising total, helping Weston Park Cancer Charity provide support and therapies for patients and families.

Facepaint fun

Creative hands and cheeks became vibrant purple canvases during the facepaint workshop. Laughter and colourful designs filled the space, giving everyone a chance to show spirit while contributing to the total raised.

Slimed for charity

Learners voted for six staff members to face the slime, creating an exciting finale. Cheers and applause filled the room as colleagues were slimed, marking a fun and memorable end to the campaign.

Looking back on the week, dedication from staff and students made every event a success. Collective effort transformed creative ideas into real impact for an important cause.
