Hydration Showcase 2026 Tests Sports Drinks And Supplements
Exploring the science behind performance and wellbeing, sport students hosted an interactive hydration showcase last week, bringing their theory to life through practical activities.
Welcoming staff, students, and parents, the event returned with a series of engaging activities designed to explore how hydration supports both performance and wellbeing. Visitors were invited to sample drinks and move between stalls, each offering a hands-on look at key concepts.
Building on their classroom learning, students guided attendees through practical demonstrations, including analysing hydration levels using a urine colour display. Conversations throughout the day helped highlight how hydration can be monitored and adjusted to support physical activity.

Further exploration focused on how fluid needs vary depending on exercise intensity, environmental conditions, and individual differences. Attention was given to recognising early signs of dehydration, alongside understanding the risks associated with overhydration. The showcase reinforced the importance of informed decision-making in maintaining balance.
Focus also shifted to sports drinks, with students comparing hypotonic, isotonic, and hypertonic options and explaining how each supports the body differently. Applying their knowledge, students designed their own drink concepts, balancing effectiveness, flavour, and cost while considering how these could be recreated using everyday ingredients.

Bringing everything together, the event highlighted how hydration plays a key role not only in sport but in everyday routines. Through a mix of practical activities and discussion, students once again demonstrated their understanding while supporting others to learn more about maintaining healthy hydration habits.
