Sports Day 2026: Protective Services Secure Narrow Win

Ending in a narrow 26–20 victory, Protective Services edged Sport students at a competitive event held at Kilton Golf Course in Worksop earlier this term.

Momentum shifted throughout the day as both teams delivered strong performances across multiple sporting events.

Testing fitness, resilience, and teamwork, the programme featured a structured series of challenges. Working behind the scenes, Sport students ensured smooth delivery through setup, marshalling, and transitions.

Early exchanges

Opening proceedings, the 100m sprint saw both teams finish level, immediately setting a competitive tone. Building early momentum, Protective Services edged ahead in shot put through a strong performance. 

Restoring balance, the 1k run saw both groups finish level once again.

Midway momentum shifts

Control shifted once again, Protective Services gained a narrow lead in the kick ups through consistent accuracy. Applying pressure, both groups delivered strong performances in the long jump, resulting in another level outcome.

Maintaining intensity, the egg and spoon race saw points shared once more, with neither side able to create separation.

Final decider

In the relay race, Sport delivered a standout performance, securing maximum points and closing the gap. Tug of war ultimately proved decisive, with Protective Services producing a strong finish to secure overall victory.

Securing 26 points, Protective Services finished ahead of Sport on 20, in a closely fought event that showcased strong performances from both groups.
