Arts and ‘Witch’ Crafts

17 May 2016

Learning Development students from North Notts College have created an inspiring mural to brighten Misterton Primary School’s outdoor space.

A teaching assistant from the primary school approached Mick Cox, Foundation Tutor at North Notts College after seeing the art project done by the students in the Misterton SureStart Children’s Centre the previous year.

The primary children chose what theme they wanted the mural to be of, and chose the popular ‘Room on the Broom’ animation based on Julia Donaldson’s picture book about a friendly witch.

The project began during the second term and was completed at the end of April, creating a fantastic project that the children adore. The project also enabled the Learning Development students to complete units towards their City and Guilds Skills for Working Life qualification and gain valuable experience.

Mrs Brunt, Foundation Stage Leader said: “it was a pleasure to work with local groups in the community.”
