North Notts College is Supporting Bassetlaw’s Redundancy Event

12 September 2023

North Notts College, part of the RNN Group, will be attending and supporting Bassetlaw District Council, Department for Work and Pensions, and Bassetlaw Citizen Advice Bureau’s one-stop-shop redundancy support event being held on Thursday 14th September from 11am-4pm at The Bridge Skills Hub, Bridge Place, Worksop, S80 1DT. This event is focused on supporting individuals who have been affected by Wilko’s redundancy announcements.

RNN Group recognises that this is a really devastating situation for Worksop and the surrounding area and the individuals and their families that will be affected by the redundancies. We are proud to be attending this event to support and help those individuals whether looking for retraining or upskilling through our many adult programmes and courses available to help with their next step.

Attending on the day will be staff from the community courses and support teams, employability teams, and adult careers coaches to help local community members find their next steps.

In addition, starting from Monday 11th September, we will be offering daily free drop-in redundancy and jobseeker workshops at the Careers Lounge at North Notts College. Specialists will be available to provide guidance in CV production and cover letter creation as well as support with job applications and job searches online. These workshops are open to all colleagues at Wilko along with anyone else affected by redundancy, unemployment, or job uncertainty as a free service.

Jason Austin, CEO and Principal of the RNN Group said, “We are sad to learn of the situation with regard to Wilkinson’s and the impact this will have on the Worksop and the surrounding area and the individuals and their families that will be affected by the redundancies.

“North Notts College – as part of the RNN Group – is committed to meeting the needs of employers and adults in our communities and delivering on this through the many education and training opportunities we offer, contributing at the heart of our communities and so we are committed to supporting anyone needing our help at this time.”
