T Level Event: New Construction and Surveying Job Opportunities

23 April 2024

Last week, Bassetlaw District Council (BDC) and North Notts College joined forces to host a T Level event at The Bridge Skills Hub. Construction and Surveying students received a morning filled with presentations, job prospects, and industry insights. Various career pathways and opportunities within the council and partnering organisations were showcased.

The event commenced with introductions from a distinguished panel of industry experts, including representatives from Bassetlaw District Council, Ventro Group, Make Consulting, and United Living. These experts enlightened students on the exciting prospects of higher degree apprenticeships, offering valuable insights into potential career trajectories.

Throughout the morning, students engaged in a series of workshop activities, attended insightful presentations, and participated in lively Q&A sessions. They also had the unique opportunity to interact with the interview panel, posing direct questions and gaining invaluable insights into the industry.

As a direct outcome of the event, BDC has extended job opportunities to learners, offering one-day work placements with the possibility of securing positions upon qualification. The roles available encompass a diverse range of responsibilities within Property and Development, including:

  • Building Surveyor: Responsible for a comprehensive array of building surveying functions, from surveys and drawings to project management.
  • Quality Control Inspector: Tasked with inspection duties, monitoring, and ensuring compliance with contract specifications.
  • Trainee Quantity Surveyor: Offering support in contract preparation, administration, and valuations for capital improvement projects.
  • Trainee Building Surveyor: Assisting in stock condition surveys, building pathology, and contract administration.
  • Quantity Surveyor: Providing pre and post-contract quantity surveying services and project management for large-scale projects.

These opportunities not only provide invaluable hands-on experience but also pave the way for career advancement and professional growth within the industry.

North Notts College and Bassetlaw District Council remain committed to nurturing partnerships, fostering a supportive ecosystem for student development and industry collaboration. As preparations for the next intake of Construction and Surveying students unfold, the college anticipates further opportunities for growth and engagement within the community.

“We are thrilled with the success of this event and the fruitful collaboration with Bassetlaw District Council. Such initiatives play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between education and industry, providing our students with real-world experiences and opening doors to promising career opportunities.”
